IT’S HOT OUT THERE! No question about it.
We want to make sure that all of you are taking the necessary precautions to stay cool during the oppressive heat wave.
Try to stay in air conditioned areas during the hottest parts of the day. The time that this usually happens is between noon and 4 p.m. If you don’t have AC, there are plenty of local places that do! Head to the movies for the afternoon, or check out some books at our local library and read for a while in the nice cool building. You might even learn something at the same time!
If you have to be outside, remember drink water all day long. Caffeine and alcohol dehydrate you so stick to water to keep your body cool. Use sunscreen even if there are clouds in the sky. The sun is still out there somewhere, so make sure you load up on that SPF 30!
Finally, never EVER leave children, elderly, or pets in the car in this kind of heat. It’s extremely life-threatening, and rumor has it that security officers are checking parking lots….so here’s your friendly warning.
Make sure you check out the national American Red Cross website for more tips to stay safe, healthy, hydrated, and prepared for intense heat.
